A committee looks after a great deal of other people’s money. These six questions help any committee see exactly what it is paying for and how its scheme is run. We welcome them, and here are our answers.
- What did management cost us last year, as one total?
Clearview: one fixed fee, nothing added.
- Do you receive commission on our insurance or from contractors?
Clearview: none, ever.
- What extra charges can appear on our invoices?
Clearview: none. The only extra is an EGM at $350 + GST.
- How do we get three quotes, and who chooses?
Clearview: three quotes for every tendered job; the committee chooses in the portal.
- Who covers you when you’re sick or away?
Clearview: standby cover, and the portal and emergency procedure keep working.
- Can owners see the records without asking?
Clearview: yes. If an owner is entitled to see it, it’s already in the portal.
One real example
One scheme we reviewed was paying $23,605 a year across eleven separate management charges, including mileage, tolls and site visits. Clearview’s fixed fee for the same scheme is $18,150.
